This episode seeks to apply our admonition last week to engage culture specifically rather than in general.

RECAP & TAKEAWAYS:

  • Culture is what we make of the world. So make something specific.
  • Rather than worry about what is outside of your control, focus on what you can control. (Aeric reminds us that it might be helpful to turn off the TV)!
  • Seek the good of the City, Jeremiah 29:7 — “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
  • Our three specific ideas for engaging culture this week were:
    • Instead of polarization, pray. Specifically, take a prayer walk. The first application of Jeremiah 29:7 is to pray.
    • Instead of fretting about education, tutor one student.
    • Instead of complaining about government, serve on an advisory board.
